How to make Fimo jewelry
Whatever piece you make, the same few rules keep it light, strong and comfortable to wear:
- Keep pieces thin and light, about 3–4 mm thick for earrings and pendants, so they don’t pull on the ear or neck.
- Make all holes before baking with a needle or toothpick: for jump rings, ear hooks or stringing beads.
- Bake at 110 °C (230 °F) for 30 minutes. Fully baked clay is strong and slightly flexible. See our FIMO instructions for beginners.
- Sand and varnish for a smooth, professional finish, or leave the clay matte.
- Use good findings: stainless steel or sterling silver hooks and jump rings, and jewelry glue for stud posts and ring bases.
